Verder is alles elektrisch of pneumatisch. 1978 Porsche 928 coupé in “Hellblau Metallic” - Manufactured on 17 August 1978 (model year 1979) - Hellblau Metallic with special Pasha interior - Odometer reading only 105,589 KM - Manual “Dogleg” transmission - Matching numbers - Porsche “Geburtsurkunde” Certificate - Recently serviced (including timing belt) by 928 specialist (€3,500) There is much to say about the Porsche 928, which was very advanced at the time. What many people do not know is that the 928 was supposed to succeed the legendary 911 series. Fortunately, this did not happen. Although the 928 was a relatively successful model, the traditional 911 remained a popular model and stayed in production. The 928 was produced from 1978 onwards. The model we are offering is an early build and was delivered new in Germany in 1978. The options ordered were electronically adjustable exterior mirrors, electrically adjustable seats, electric antenna, air conditioning and tinted windows. Major maintenance was recently carried out by a 928 specialist, including replacement of the timing belt, water pump, oil + filter, etc. An invoice for €3,500 is available. All body parts fit together well, the car is rust-free and the composition is beautiful: a light blue colour ‘Hellblau Metallic’, original alloy wheels and a Pasha interior. This distinctive checkered interior has a hint of blue and is quite unique. The dashboard is free of cracks. The engine compartment is dry and the car drives, shifts and brakes very well. Recently, the clutch, pressure plate, thrust bearing and battery have been replaced. Most 928s are equipped with an automatic transmission, but this one is equipped with the coveted and faster manual ‘Dogleg’ transmission. At the time, Porsche advertised with the phrase ‘from 0 to 100 km/h and back to 0 in just 10 seconds’ to indicate that both acceleration and braking power were above average. Porsche also described the 928 as three cars in one: a sports car with good performance, a comfortable, luxurious coupé and an efficient, practical vehicle suitable for long distances and requiring almost no maintenance. These words are no exaggeration: in addition to excellent driving characteristics, the car is richly equipped with, among other things, 4 seats, air conditioning, cruise control and electrically operated windows and mirrors. The car comes with a 1979 manual, maintenance invoices and a Car-Pass validating the low mileage of 105,589 km. This example in a beautiful blue metallic colour with a stunning interior is well maintained and an increasingly sought-after youngtimer, making it a great addition to any collection. General information about the Porsche 928 The Porsche 928 was introduced in 1977 as a luxury 2+2 GT car. Due to increasingly stringent safety requirements, it had to succeed the popular 911. It was the first Porsche with a V8 engine and the first Porsche available with an automatic transmission. The design was revolutionary and, thanks to the powerful, water-cooled 4.5-litre V8 engine with 240 hp, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and has a top speed of 230 km/h. The focus was on lightweight construction: the engine is therefore made of aluminium, as are various body parts, and the bumpers are made of plastic. Everything else is electric or pneumatic. The fact that it is a technically complex vehicle is evident from the more than 1,000 plug connections and 3 kilometres of electrical cabling in the car. In 1978, the 928 won the title of “Car of the Year”. The Porsche 928 is the only sports car ever to have received this title! Sales figures were therefore good. The 928 is now considered a sought-after youngtimer and has a group of loyal fans, with even a Porsche 928 Club in the Netherlands.
