It uses Citroën's hydropneumatic suspension, to which it adds DIRAVI self-centering power steering and swiveling headlights. The Injection version is its most accomplished iteration. Fewer than 13,000 units were produced through 1975. This Citroën SM Injection was first registered on March 13, 1974, in France and has had only 4 owners since new. The last two owners are brothers. The car has thus belonged to the same owner since 2009, and to the same family since 1994. The car comes with an invoice file dating back to its origin, along with its original Citroën owner's and repair manuals. Its history is therefore perfectly traceable. The engine, replaced on an exchange basis with invoice on record in 1979, has covered only 76,500 km since. A complete repaint was carried out in 2022. This example is presented in very good overall condition for its age. The bodywork received a complete repaint in 2022, with the paint stripped back to bare metal. The original Citroën metallic grey color is uniform and presents well overall. We note a few minor defects, visible in the detailed photos. The car is fitted with its original set of 5 Michelin RR (reinforced resin) wheels, highly prized by collectors. They are in good condition. The fifth resin wheel, the spare, is in the trunk. The chrome trim and headlights are well preserved. Inside the cabin, the original brown leather upholstery is taut and has a lovely patina. The brown carpets and dashboard are also very well preserved. The car retains its electric windows, height-adjustable steering wheel, and period Blaupunkt radio. All of this equipment is functional. Air conditioning is present but has been deliberately disconnected. The fuel-injected Maserati V6 was replaced on an exchange basis in July 1979 by the first owner, when the car had 73,000 km on the clock. It now runs perfectly and has benefited from significant reliability work. All three timing chains have been replaced along with their tensioners. The valves have been overhauled. The radiator and hoses have been changed. In 2026, a 123 Ignition electronic ignition system was fitted, with chain and valve adjustment carried out at the same time. The clutch was replaced in 2010, and the gearbox has been made more reliable. On the chassis side, the suspension spheres, the accumulator, the steering, and the stainless steel exhaust have all been redone. The stainless steel exhaust enhances the V6's sound. The car handles extremely well, both at low speed and on the motorway. The car uses approximately 9 liters/100 km on country roads, and 12.2 liters/100 km at an indicated 140 km/h on the motorway.
