ENGLISH VERSION BELOW Hierbij bied ik mijn MG MGB Roadster uit 1979 te koop aan. We hebben inmiddels een 4-persoons cabriolet gekocht, zodat ons kleine zoontje ook mee kan. Daarom mag de MG naar een nieuwe eigenaar. De auto is per direct beschikbaar. Historie De auto is in 1979 nieuw geleverd in Californië en in 1992 geïmporteerd naar Nederland. Ik ben de derde eigenaar in Nederland. Conditie Dit is een auto waar je direct mee kunt rijden en van kunt genieten. De motor is gemoderniseerd en geschikt gemaakt voor ongelode benzine. Hij start direct, loopt mooi en maakt een heerlijk klassiek geluid. Ook de versnellingsbak en koppeling functioneren zoals het hoort. Het is een leuke en betrouwbare klassieker die veel bekijks trekt. Mensen kijken er regelmatig naar om en steken vaak even hun duim op. De auto heeft onlangs nog wat aandacht gekregen. De velgen, chromedelen en de voorruit zijn gepolijst. Ook zijn de bumpers en het dakje weer netjes op kleur gebracht, waardoor de auto er verzorgd uitziet. De lak is netjes, maar niet nieuw. Vooral de bovenkant van de auto heeft door de zon in de loop der jaren wat meer te verduren gehad, waardoor de glans daar minder is. Met een goed poetsmiddel blijft de lak echter mooi. Die poetsmiddelen geef ik er voor het gemak gewoon bij. Je hoeft de auto overigens echt niet wekelijks te poetsen om hem netjes te houden. Zoals bij een klassieker van deze leeftijd horen er ook wat aandachtspuntjes bij. Onderaan de carrosserie zitten een paar roestplekjes en er zijn enkele kleine lakbeschadigingen. Daar heb ik bewust veel detailfoto’s van gemaakt. Ik laat liever alles eerlijk zien dan dat er achteraf verrassingen zijn. In het echt oogt de auto mooier dan op de detailfoto’s; die zijn juist gemaakt om alle imperfecties goed zichtbaar te maken. Verder zit de stuurwielrand links en rechts tijdelijk vast met een paar tyraps. Dat is iets waar een volgende eigenaar een keer aandacht aan kan besteden als hij het helemaal netjes wil maken. Er zijn ook veel mooie tweedehands houten stuurwielen verkrijgbaar. Het interieur is netjes. In de softtop zitten een paar kleine scheurtjes. Bij een flinke regenbui zou ik die eerst repareren of op termijn de kap vervangen. Zelf heb ik de auto alleen met mooi weer gereden, dus het is voor mij nooit een punt geweest. Kortom: een eerlijke en technisch goede MGB Roadster waar je direct plezier van kunt hebben. Hij start altijd, rijdt zoals het hoort, klinkt goed en ziet er verzorgd uit. Alle bekende imperfecties heb ik uitgebreid gefotografeerd, zodat je vooraf een compleet beeld hebt. Liever een eerlijke advertentie dan een auto die in het echt tegenvalt. ENGLISH VERSION I’m offering my 1979 MG MGB Roadster for sale. We’ve recently bought a four-seater convertible so our young son can come along, which is the only reason I’m selling the MG. The car is available immediately. History The car was delivered new in California in 1979 and imported into the Netherlands in 1992. I am the third owner since it arrived in the Netherlands. Condition This is a classic you can simply get in and enjoy. The engine has been upgraded to run on unleaded fuel. It starts immediately, runs very well and has the great sound you expect from an MGB. The gearbox and clutch both work exactly as they should. It’s a fun and reliable classic that attracts plenty of attention. People regularly stop to look at it or give a thumbs-up when you drive by. The car has recently received some cosmetic attention. The wheels, chrome trim and windscreen have all been polished. The bumpers and soft top have also been restored to their original colour, giving the car a fresh and well-maintained appearance. The paintwork is in good condition, but it isn’t new. As you would expect, the horizontal surfaces have seen more sunlight over the years, so they have slightly less shine than the rest of the car. With good polishing products, however, the paint remains very presentable. I’ll include those products with the car for convenience. And no, you certainly don’t have to polish it every week to keep it looking good. Like any classic of this age, there are a few minor imperfections. There are some small rust spots along the lower part of the body and a few paint blemishes. I’ve taken plenty of detailed photos of these areas on purpose. I’d rather show everything honestly than have someone discover something unexpected later. In real life, the car looks better than the close-up photos suggest—they were taken specifically to highlight every imperfection. The wooden steering wheel rim is currently secured on both sides with a couple of zip ties. It works fine, but it’s something the next owner may want to repair properly. There are also plenty of nice second-hand wooden steering wheels available if preferred. The interior is in very tidy condition. The soft top has a few small tears, so if you plan to drive in heavy rain, it would be worth repairing them or eventually replacing the hood. I have only driven the car in good weather, so it has never been an issue for me. In short: this is an honest, mechanically sound MGB Roadster that is ready to be enjoyed. It starts instantly, drives exactly as it should, sounds great and still looks fantastic. Every known imperfection has been photographed in detail, so you know exactly what you’re buying. I’d rather present the car honestly than make it look better in the advert than it does in real life.
